The 26th Great Chefs of Hong Kong, Heep Hong Society's annual philanthropic initiative that raises funds for children with special needs, was successfully held last Monday (6 May 2019) at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. More than 1,000 guests enjoyed an international selection of culinary delights and wine from almost 50 of the city's top hotels, restaurants, and beverage suppliers whilst supporting the charity's initiative.
The Society was honoured to invite Mr. Richard Greaves, General Manager and Area Vice President of Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, Dr. Jimmy Tang, Chairman of the Prince Jewellery & Watch Love & Care Foundation, Mr Shum Mak Ling, Director of Memorigin Watch Company, Ms. Kim Murphy, Chairman of the Great Chefs Working Group, and Mrs. Grace Lam, Vice-Chairman of the Great Chefs Working Group to officiate at the opening ceremony.

With over 100 dishes available from nearly 50 of Hong Kong's favourite dining destinations, guests experienced another year of excellent gastronomy thanks to the Great Chefs of Hong Kong. The fundraiser was supported by a group of generous and longstanding supporters, including Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, and InterContinental Hong Kong. An exciting line-up of restaurants participating in this year's event including Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Gordon Ramsay's world-renowned and uniquely British dining destination, award-winning contemporary restaurant AnOther Place and Confucius-inspired Kong Fu Zi. On a mission of charity, Chef Patrick McDermott of Grand Hyatt Hong Kong's Grand Café served the ground-breaking Impossible Vegan Cheese Burger with Sweet Potato Rosti, Parsley Sauce and Chipotle Mayo. Also featured this year was Sichuan culinary expert, Chef Kenny Chan of newly-opened Sichuan Lab, who showcased his signature Pan-fried Sichuan Cured Pork Patties with Pepper.

The Great Chefs of Hong Kong remains a prominent event on the calendars of local foodies. In addition to savouring the signature dishes by the city's great chefs, patrons participated in a lucky draw and a raffle as well as generously supported the charity sale of greeting cards that were hand painted by Heep Hong Society's children and young people. All proceeds go directly to the Society's Parents Resource Centres, which provides important resources and support to over 4,000 children, young people and their families.
